Brief (professional biography)
After successfully graduating from the Alma-Ata Institute of Railway Transport Engineers in 1985, she worked as an Assistant at the Department of Freight and Commercial Operations Management. From 1986 to 1990, she was a postgraduate student at the Department of Railway Stations and Junctions of the Moscow Institute of Railway Transport Engineers. In 1990, she defended her Candidate of Technical Sciences dissertation ahead of schedule on the topic “Selection of Rational Designs for Passenger Station Throats” in specialty 05.22.08 – Operation of Railway Transport (including signalling, centralization and blocking systems and technological communications) at the V.I. Obraztsov Moscow Institute of Railway Transport Engineers. From 1990 to 2022, she worked at the M. Tynyshpayev Kazakh Academy of Transport and Communications (later renamed the Academy of Logistics and Transport), holding the positions of Assistant, Associate Professor, Head of Department, Dean, Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Vice-Rector for Research, and Professor. In 2002, she defended her doctoral dissertation entitled “Theory and Practice of Transportation of Oil and Petroleum Products by Rail Taking into Account the Interaction of Track and Rolling Stock” at the M. Tynyshpayev Kazakh Academy of Transport and Communications in specialties 05.22.06 – Railway Track, Survey and Design of Railways and 05.22.08 – Management of Transportation Processes. S.E. Bekzhanova is actively engaged in research in the field of railway transportation. She has published more than 150 scientific works addressing such issues as the efficiency of rail transportation of oil and petroleum products; acceleration of unloading of high-paraffin crude oil and solidifying petroleum products from railway tank cars; cleaning of railway tank cars; geometric and force irregularities of rail tracks; dynamic track irregularities; organization of combined transportation; assessment of the quality of transport services; securing cargo on open rolling stock; improvement of passenger transportation; railway logistics; and transportation process management. Membership in scientific organizations: Academician of the International Academy of Transport, Certificate No. 638; Member of the Republican Educational and Methodological Council and Chair of the “Transport Services” Section; Member of the Expert Council of the Committee for Attestation and Supervision of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, 2007–2009; Member of the Dissertation Council for doctoral dissertation defenses at the Academy of Logistics and Transport. Awards and achievements: “Honorary Railway Worker”; “Honorary Worker of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan”; awarded the medal “100 Years of the Railways of Kazakhstan” and the badge “For Merits in the Development of Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan”; scholarship holder of the Bolashak International Scholarship Programme; Best University Teacher of 2016.
