EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM

6B07185 – MANAGEMENT OF LOGISTICS SYSTEMS IN RAILWAY TRANSPORT

DESCRIPTION
To develop qualified rail logistics professionals who are committed to sustainable development and capable of effectively managing freight transport and commercial activities in the context of digital transformation.

This educational program is for those who want to do more than just “work on the railroad,” but rather manage freight logistics at a strategic level—from route planning to digital control of traffic flows.
A special focus is on mainline and international freight transportation by rail, including on the following routes: China – Central Asia – Europe; the Caspian transport route; North–South and multimodal corridors.

LO 1. Demonstrate knowledge of the regulatory framework and principles of anti-corruption culture, taking into account the socio-political context and cultural characteristics of Kazakhstan to develop professional ethics and responsibility in the management of rail logistics systems.
LO 2. Use language skills for professional communication, application of specialized terminology, and problem-solving in freight and commercial activities in rail transport, demonstrating confident proficiency in the state, Russian, and foreign languages in a professional and intercultural environment.
LO 3. Integrate information and communication technologies, Python programming, and artificial intelligence methods to optimize logistics processes and manage freight transportation, and use digital tools and modeling to develop innovative solutions in rail logistics.
LO 4. Evaluate environmentally sustainable technologies and occupational health and safety measures in rail logistics systems and apply relevant standards to ensure environmental safety and sustainability of transport processes.
LO 5. Apply principles of green economy and sustainable entrepreneurship, as well as the fundamentals of financial literacy and time management, to effectively plan and control railway logistics, contributing to the development of a financially sustainable transport industry.
LO 6. Recognize the fundamental principles of fundamental sciences and apply them to analyze and model transportation processes, improve freight transportation efficiency, and ensure the reliability of rail systems, contributing to the development of innovative solutions in the management of rail logistics systems.
LO 7. Analyze the operating principles of transport and the interaction of its modes, as well as technologies for transport terminals and automation of logistics processes (RFID, IoT, sensor networks) to improve the efficiency of freight transportation and optimize operations in rail logistics.
LO 8. Manage freight transportation by rail, taking into account rolling stock types, regulatory requirements, and operational specifics; evaluate commercial efficiency, prepare documentation, ensure safety, and develop solutions to optimize operations.
LO 9. Substantiate logistics decisions using forecasting, modeling, and process optimization methods in rail transport; minimize transport risks; develop supply chain management strategies taking into account industry specifics and sustainable development requirements.
LO 10. Develop and implement logistics solutions in warehousing, cargo handling, and terminal processing in rail transport, apply marketing tools and technologies for transport service sales, utilize WMS systems and digital platforms for managing warehouse and logistics processes to improve logistics efficiency.
LO 11. Develop and implement logistics solutions for rail and international transportation, apply certification standards, organize container and multimodal transportation, ensure customs clearance, and utilize modern technologies to improve the efficiency of transportation operations.

Specializing in rail freight transportation. Considering the infrastructure and logistics specifics of Kazakhstan and the EAEU countries. Studying end-to-end routes, corridors, and transit logistics. Mastering digital transportation and logistics management systems.
