Turkic-speaking peoples consider March 22 – “Zhyl Basy”. This day is considered the day of the vernal equinox, after which the night decreases and the day lengthens. And according to Kazakh belief, the people who survived the harsh winter will have a warm and prosperous spring and summer in the future. The holiday is held extensively, Kazakhs visit each other, hug each other when they meet, ask for forgiveness and ask to forget past insults. It is customary to treat all the guests to Nauryz-kozhe, which, according to legend, should contain 7 ingredients, which is symbolized with the sacred number 7.
In our university, “Zhyl basy” was also widely celebrated, with chants, koris, rich treats, elders gave “bata”.
