History of the School

From origins to modern times: in 1976, it was founded as the Faculty of Railway Operation, and since then it has become an essential part of the university, whose history traces back to the early days of the opening of the Almaty branch of TashIIT, later known as the Almaty Institute of Railway Transport Engineers.

The faculty was established in 1983 under the name “Transportation Process Management,” renamed in 1998 to “Organization of Transportation,” transformed in 2015 into the Faculty of “Logistics and Management,” received the status of the Institute of “Logistics and Management” in 2021, and currently operates as the “School of Business.”

The first head of the faculty was Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor K.A. Kulmanov. Over the years, it was led by Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor K.Zh. Aubakirov, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Professor Z.S. Bekzhanov, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor S.Sh. Sarbayev, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor B.M. Kuanyshev, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor E.E. Karsybayev, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor A.S. Sabetov, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor S.E. Bekzhanova, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor A.V. Mukhametzhanova, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor E.S. Malgazhdarov, Candidate of Technical Sciences N.K. Igembayev, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Z.K. Bitileuova, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor G.Zh. Kenzhebayeva, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor A.K. Kaltayev, and Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Gulmira Serikovna Musayeva. Today, the school is headed by Doctor of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor Kanat Zhaxymuratovich Daubayev.

From the very first days of its existence, the faculty aimed for high standards in education and science. Its first graduates became well-known, highly qualified specialists in the field of transportation organization and traffic management in railway transport, and their professional achievements and contributions to the industry’s development inspired subsequent generations of students to choose this profession and strive for high results.

Over the years, the faculty underwent numerous changes; new departments were established (including the Department of Logistics and Business), expanding academic programs and attracting leading specialists. Anniversary events held throughout its existence served as vivid evidence of the school’s achievements. Today, the School of Business proudly celebrates its success: our students consistently achieve high results in scientific olympiads, forums, and competitions, while the faculty actively publishes research in prestigious academic journals. The school’s modern infrastructure includes cutting-edge laboratories and classrooms, creating ideal conditions for learning and research.
