No state in the world has ever functioned or can function without developed transportation technology. The role of transportation in the life of the planet and the nation is truly vital, as only movement leads to progress. A transportation university and the transport industry cannot develop effectively without mutual integration and close cooperation.
The professional activities of our graduates cover: life safety and environmental protection, production, operation, maintenance, and repair of locomotives, railway cars, automobiles, and road equipment; construction of railways, highways, oil and gas storage facilities, pipelines, bridges, tunnels, and subways; as well as architecture, cadastre, and urban planning.
Degree-granting departments have branch offices at transportation enterprises, where students gain hands-on skills and practical experience. All graduates are assigned to positions across the transport and communications complex. The team of the School of Engineering closely follows the career paths and professional growth of its alumni. Cultural and athletic life is actively developing, and our students repeatedly win prizes in scientific and sports competitions.

History of the School
The School of Engineering is one of the leading schools at the M. Tynyshpayev ALT University. Its history dates back to the earliest days of the Almaty branch of TashIIT, which later became the Almaty Institute of Railway Transport Engineers.
The Faculty of “Transport Engineering and Construction” was established on the basis of two former faculties: “Transport Engineering” and “Construction and Economics.”
In 2021, the Faculty of “Transport Engineering and Construction” was renamed the Institute of “Transport Engineering.”
In 2024, the Institute of “Transport Engineering” was renamed the Institute of “Transport and Construction,” and currently operates as the School of Engineering.
Over the years since the founding of AlIIT, the faculties and the institute were headed by Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor V.D. Basalayev; Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor A.A. Chernyakov; Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor E.P. Mikhalin; Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor A.S. Sabetov; Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor B.M. Kuan
Currently, the Director of the School of Engineering is Candidate of Technical Sciences N.Z. Suleyeva.

The School of Engineering trains highly qualified specialists for the transport and communications complex of the Republic of Kazakhstan in these areas of study. It also provides a full spectrum of academic education across all forms of study. Instruction is delivered in both Kazakh and Russian languages.
