The Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan has approved a new format of comprehensive testing (CT) for admission to master’s and doctoral programs. Sharing the details
SCIENTIFIC AND PEDAGOGICAL MASTER’S DEGREE
Duration of study: 2 years
Number of tasks: 130, total score — 150
Test duration: 235 minutes (3 hours 55 minutes)
The CT consists of 3 blocks:
1️⃣ Foreign language (listening + vocabulary-grammar + reading) – 50 tasks
The threshold score is at least 25
2️⃣ Critical and analytical thinking – 30 tasks
The threshold score is at least 7
3️⃣ Profile test — 50 tasks
(30 in the first discipline + 20 in the second)
The threshold score for each subject is at least 7
The passing score for participation in the grant competition or admission to paid education is at least 75 points.
Persons who have an international certificate (IELTS, TOEFL, etc.) confirming knowledge of a foreign language can be exempted from the language test at their request.
SPECIALIZED MASTER ‘S DEGREE
Duration of study: 1 year;
Number of tasks: 50, total score — 70
Duration of the test: 100 minutes (1 hour 40 minutes)
CT consists of 1 block:
Profile test — 50 tasks
(30 in the first discipline, 20 in the second)
The threshold score for each subject is at least 7
The passing score is at least 30 points.
PhD DOCTORAL PROGRAM
Duration of study: 3 years
Number of tasks: 100, total score — 100
Duration of the test: 210 minutes (3 hours and 30 minutes)
CT scan includes:
1️⃣ Foreign language test – 50 tasks
The threshold score is at least 25
2️⃣ Specialty test – 50 tasks
The threshold score is at least 7
The passing score for participation in the grant competition is at least 75 points.
