In accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in particular the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated November 18, 2015 “On Combating Corruption,” various types of liability are предусмотрены for corruption offenses:
- Criminal liability arises for crimes such as giving or receiving a bribe and abuse of official authority. Penalties may range from fines to imprisonment, including corrective labor.
- Administrative liability includes fines, administrative arrest, and disqualification for petty theft, violations in public procurement, and unlawful remuneration from a legal entity.
- Civil liability arises in cases of property damage. For example, an organization is obliged to compensate for damage caused by its employee in the course of performing official duties.
- Disciplinary liability applies to employees who violate anti-corruption requirements. Sanctions include reprimands, warnings, and dismissal.
The same individual may simultaneously bear several types of liability for the same corruption offense.
