The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in a message to the people of Kazakhstan dated September 1, 2020 entrusted the Ministry of Education and Science to provide an annual internship for 500 scientists in leading research centers of the world. The JSC “Center for International Programs” under the Ministry of Education and Science of Kazakhstan was determined as an operator responsible for the programme. A category “Internships for scientists” was added by the decision of the Republican Commission for Personnel Training Abroad. Budget funds have been allocated. Applications and documents have been accepted since 4 May 2021.  The internship is up to 12 months.

The Internship competition will last until October 28, 2021. The document accepting process is fully automated. All the way of the applicants has been also digitized.

A number of changes were introduced aimed at increasing the transparency of the scholarship in 2021. So, for the first time, the List of universities recommended for studying under the “Bolashak” programme has was approved for 3 years. This form was introduced for creating favorable conditions and convenience in planning and preparing applicants for participation in the competitive admissions for the “Bolashak” scholarship.

207 higher educational institutions from 27 countries in the top 250 positions of two or more academic rankings QS World University Rankings, Academic Ranking of World Universities, Times Higher Education have been included in the List of Recommended Foreign Higher Educational Institutions to study under the “Bolashak” programme for 2021-2023.

The list of priority specialties (majors) under the “Bolashak” programme for this year includes 80 specialties for academic training and 137 specialties for internships.
