On April 3, 2026, students from the EE-23 and RET-23 groups visited the Abylkhan Kasteev State Museum of Arts. This educational trip provided a unique opportunity to explore the rich cultural landscape of Kazakhstan.
Historical Background: The Kasteev Museum is the largest art institution in Kazakhstan, founded in 1935. In 1984, it was named after Abylkhan Kasteev, the pioneer of Kazakhstan’s professional fine arts. The museum now houses over 25,000 precious artifacts, including world-class paintings, sculptures, and traditional crafts.
Why it mattered for Engineering and Telecommunications students:
-
Artistic Masterpieces: Seeing original works like “Turksib” in person allowed students to appreciate the technical skill and historical significance behind the art.
-
Cultural Roots: Exploring traditional jewelry and nomadic artifacts helped students connect with the craftsmanship of their ancestors.
-
Global Perspective: Exposure to both national and international collections (Western European and Oriental) fostered creative thinking and a well-rounded worldview.
“Understanding art is essential even for technical specialists. It broadens our horizons and inspires us,” shared the students of groups EE-23 and RET-23. This excursion strengthened the bond between the students and promoted a meaningful way of spending educational leisure time.
