At ALT, we improve every single year: modernizing our academic facilities, expanding our infrastructure, and opening more and more laboratories that bring theory to life and turn it into real practice.
Our new “Overhead Contact Systems and Power Transmission Lines” laboratory is one of the key facilities of the Department of Energy, and we are especially proud of it. The laboratory was created with the support of the Electrification and Energy Department of the “Main Network Directorate,” a branch of JSC “NC KTZ.”
We provide a learning environment that closely reflects real industrial conditions, ensuring that ALT graduates enter the profession confident, well-prepared, and ready for practical engineering challenges.
The laboratory is equipped with cutting-edge systems, including:
- the KS-160 overhead contact line suspension designed for high-speed railway operations;
- a latest-generation high-speed pantograph;
- a comprehensive demonstration stand showing all components of the overhead contact network, with each element presented clearly and in full detail;
- a sectional overhead contact suspension with a rigid crossbeam;
- a motorized disconnect switch with remote control.
Here, students do not just study diagrams — they see the overhead contact system in operation, understand the structure of each component, and observe how real equipment performs under working conditions.
