On September 2, 2026, Project Manager of the Office of Scientific Projects and Professor of the ALT Department of Rolling Stock, G.B. Bakyt, presented a report at the 23rd International Conference on Manufacturing Research (ICMR-2026), held at Nazarbayev University (Astana, Kazakhstan). The presentation was delivered within the framework of grant financing project No. AP22688234, “Development of a Method to Improve the Operational Efficiency of Shunting Locomotives.”
The topic aroused keen interest among foreign and domestic colleagues, as issues related to optimizing and improving the energy efficiency of railway transport are critically important for the development of the modern transport and logistics industry. Participation in conferences of this caliber not only allows ALT University to share its advanced experience but also strengthens international scientific cooperation. We congratulate G.B. Bakyt and the research team on their successful presentation and wish them continued success in implementing the grant project!
The overall concept of the report aligns with UN SDG No. 13 — Climate Action: reducing fuel consumption by shunting locomotives directly leads to a smaller carbon footprint, cutting greenhouse gas emissions (CO₂, no N) into the atmosphere from diesel engine operations at railway stations and junctions.
