Starting from March 17, 2026, a practice-oriented educational initiative has been launched at ALT University named after M. Tynyshpayev for students of the Mechanical Engineering program. Under the guidance of Senior Lecturers Tomiris Omarova and A.S. Karzhaubayev from the Department of Transport Vehicles and Life Safety, regular excursions have been organized for 3rd-year students to the Almaty Heavy Machinery Plant (AZTM).

Immersion into Real Industrial Environment During the excursions, students gain first-hand experience of heavy engineering production processes. They explore:

  • the organizational structure of the enterprise;

  • the full technological production cycle;

  • modern metal processing methods;

  • operation of metal-cutting machines;

  • automation and digitalization in manufacturing.

Students observe the entire production workflow — from raw materials to finished products — allowing them to connect theoretical knowledge with real-world practice.

Development of Professional Skills These excursions help students develop key engineering competencies:

  • systems thinking;

  • understanding of industrial processes;

  • analytical skills in evaluating technologies;

  • readiness for real production environments.

Students also interact with industry professionals, gaining insights into career paths and employer expectations.

Bridging Education and Industry This initiative represents an important step by ALT University named after M. Tynyshpayev in strengthening the connection between academic education and the industrial sector.

Contribution to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) The project contributes to the following SDGs:

  • SDG 4 — Quality Education: Enhancing practical and professional skills of students.

  • SDG 8 — Decent Work and Economic Growth: Preparing competitive and employable graduates.

  • SDG 9 — Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure: Promoting industrial engagement and innovation-driven thinking.

Future Prospects Further plans include expanding partnerships with industrial enterprises, implementing elements of dual education, and developing joint educational programs.
