On January 26, 2026, ALT University named after M. Tynyshpaev welcomed a delegation led by H.E. Han Chunlin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Kazakhstan. The visit, accompanied by representatives of the Embassy and the Consulate General of the PRC, was dedicated to strengthening academic and scientific cooperation between the two countries.

As part of the visit, the delegation met with the Chair of the Management Board – Rector of ALT University, Meruert Sovetovna Zharmagambetova, and the Founder of ALT University, Gulzana Beibitovna Serikova.

A campus tour was organized for the guests, showcasing the university’s research infrastructure as well as laboratories and facilities established in cooperation with Chinese partners. The guests became acquainted with innovative equipment and educational programs aimed at training a new generation of highly qualified specialists, developing engineering, logistics, and technological competencies, and implementing advanced solutions in automation and digitalization.

ALT University actively cooperates with leading universities in China. A key example is the opening in 2023 of the “Silk Road (Jing Shi School)” Scientific Workshop, established with the support of Urumqi Vocational University (UVU). The project was the result of two years of joint work and was implemented under agreements on personnel training, academic exchange, and joint research in engineering, transport, telecommunications, and information technologies. The educational and laboratory complex is equipped with modern information resources and implements the “Chinese Language + Professional Skills” program.

Together with UVU and JingDong, ALT University launched the “Smart Logistics” hub — a scientific and practical laboratory equipped with advanced technologies and robotic systems. The hub enables students to acquire practical skills in warehouse logistics management, digital commerce, and transport processes, as well as to complete internships and participate in real applied projects.

In 2025, special attention was given to the “Lubān Workshop” project, awarded to ALT University in August 2025 during the SCO Tianjin Summit. The third Lubān Workshop in industrial robotics became a key educational and research platform for training specialists for high-tech sectors of the economy and implementing innovative engineering solutions. The project was realized following high-level negotiations between the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and the President of the PRC, Xi Jinping. The cooperation agreement on establishing and implementing the third Lubān Workshop in Kazakhstan was signed on October 31, 2025, within the framework of the Forum of Strategic Partners of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In December 2025, ALT University, in cooperation with the Chinese company FOTIMA, opened the Intelligent Sensing Lab — a modern laboratory for sensor technologies and automation, focused on training next-generation engineers and promoting ESG approaches in technical education.

In recent years, ALT University named after M. Tynyshpaev has signed cooperation agreements with more than 20 leading Chinese universities and enterprises. This demonstrates the scale and strategic importance of the partnership, which creates opportunities for applied research, implementation of Industry 4.0 technologies, knowledge transfer, and commercialization of scientific developments.

It is important to note that ALT University’s cooperation with Chinese universities and technology companies is fully aligned with the national priorities of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Interaction between Kazakhstan and China is not only economic but also strategic at the interstate level.

During an official meeting in Beijing in September 2025, the Head of State emphasized that China is a reliable neighbor, close friend, and eternal strategic partner of Kazakhstan. These words reflect the depth and sustainability of bilateral relations, which are now actively developing in the fields of education, science, and technology.

The current stage of Kazakh–Chinese cooperation is characterized by the expansion of academic exchanges, joint research projects, and the integration of universities of both countries into a unified educational space. In this context, ALT University’s partnership with leading Chinese universities and companies is of particular significance and fully corresponds to the priorities of the state policy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
