The Association of Higher Education Institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan, together with ALT University named after Mukhamedzhan Tynyshpayev, conducted a professional development course titled “Artificial Intelligence in the System of Higher Education and Science.” The initiative is aimed at teachers, university leaders, and educational specialists who are to work in conditions of rapid digital transformation.

The program was developed in accordance with the instructions of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, voiced in the Address to the people of Kazakhstan “Kazakhstan in the Era of Artificial Intelligence.” The focus is on the implementation of AI technologies in educational processes, scientific research, and university management systems.

The training was held in a hybrid format based at ALT University. The online stage took place from March 10 to 17 and included distance learning and independent work. The in-person part of the program was held on March 19–20 and was dedicated to intensive practical work, case analysis, and exchange of experience between participants.

The main goal of the course is to form a systematic understanding of the possibilities of artificial intelligence among students and develop practical skills for its application. Participants studied international and Kazakhstani cases, mastered modern digital tools, and developed their own scenarios for implementing AI into the activities of their universities.

Special attention was paid to the digital maturity of universities. Within the first module, participants analyzed the current state of their organizations: from the level of digitalization to data management approaches, as well as issues of ethics and security when using artificial intelligence.

The program included six thematic modules covering the use of AI in educational and scientific activities, the use of technology in university management, and the development of practical cases. Separate blocks were devoted to digital marketing in education, increasing university brand awareness, and modern tools for interacting with the audience.

The course was moderated by the First Vice-President of the Association of Higher Education Institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Ali Azhimovich Abishev. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of systematic implementation of artificial intelligence technologies in higher education, noting that the digital transformation of universities today is becoming a key factor in their competitiveness and sustainable development.

Representatives of government agencies, international companies, and experts in the field of machine learning, digital marketing, and cybersecurity acted as speakers. Practical cases were shared by representatives of business and technology companies, including Microsoft and Beeline Kazakhstan.

Following the results of the training, participants were issued certificates of professional development from the Association of Higher Education Institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The launch of the program reflects a systematic approach to the development of higher education in the country: artificial intelligence is considered not as a separate tool, but as the basis of a new educational and managerial model for universities.
