On September 17, ALT University hosted the Career Time festival, bringing together representatives from higher education institutions, employers, high school students, and university students. Participants were presented with over 400 job vacancies, professional training opportunities, and essential guidance for making informed career choices.
ALT University served as the main venue for the festival, organized with the support of the Youth Policy Department of Almaty. The event gathered representatives from over 30 universities and more than 30 prospective employers.
Opening the event, Gulsum Ablakhatovna Yespayeva, Advisor on Academic and Scientific Activities at ALT University, emphasized the vital role such initiatives play in youth career development.
“Today, it is especially important to create spaces for young people where they can not only acquire knowledge but also understand how to apply it in practice. Meeting employers, learning about current labor market demands, and discovering in-demand competencies empower students to make deliberate career choices and build clear professional paths. ALT University welcomes such initiatives and is dedicated to expanding partnerships with employers and educational organizations,” highlighted Gulsum Ablakhatovna Yespayeva.
The festival aimed to support youth in career self-determination, acquiring in-demand skills, and identifying employment opportunities.
The Career Time program spanned three core areas:
- Career Guidance for School Students: Participants learned about emerging professions and academic tracks to choose their future educational paths with confidence.
- Short-Term Professional Courses: Tailored for young individuals eager to enter the workforce but seeking supplementary knowledge and practical skill sets.
- Direct Employment Opportunities: Corporate representatives showcased more than 400 job vacancies across various fields, briefed attendees on modern workforce requirements, and outlined career progression pathways.
“Today, we have brought together three key directions. The first focuses on school students — offering career guidance. The second covers short-term skill development courses for youth who want to work but lack specific qualifications. The third is direct employment: employers are offering over 400 job vacancies across a wide spectrum of specialties,” noted Aziz Kazhdenbek, Head of the Youth Policy Department of Almaty.
For university students and young professionals, events of this nature offer direct access to potential employers, up-to-date information on high-demand skills, and open positions. In turn, employers gain direct access to motivated talent and future industry professionals.
Such initiatives strengthen the bridge between academia and industry, creating valuable pathways for professional development.
