On February 6, 2026, the Rolling Stock Department conducted a field-based class for students of group US-IPS(T)-24-2 as part of the course “Technology of Maintenance and Repair of Diesel Locomotives”. The class was held at the department’s branch located at the Almaty Locomotive Maintenance Depot (TChE-28) of the Almaty Division of KTZ–Freight Transportation LLP.
During the field class, students became familiar with the technological processes of diesel locomotive maintenance and repair under real operating conditions. Special attention was paid to the implementation of lean production elements and resource-efficient locomotive operating modes, aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goal 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy).
The field class was supervised by Associate Professor of ALT University, A.U. Utepova. The practice-oriented format enabled students to consolidate theoretical knowledge and gain hands-on insight into modern approaches to the organization and operation of locomotive facilities.
