On April 7, 2026, the Department of Rolling Stock hosted a landmark meeting with distinguished alumnus Murat Omarbekovich Musabekov. An Associate Professor, Honored Railway Worker of Kazakhstan, and advisor at Tengizchevroil (TCO), Mr. Musabekov delivered a lecture titled “Methods for Improving the Energy and Environmental Performance of Shunting Locomotives.”
The lecture focused on reducing energy consumption and limiting hazardous emissions in railway transport. Mr. Musabekov emphasized that combining cutting-edge efficiency technologies with optimized operational management is key to sustainable engineering. He shared his professional experience at TCO and discussed a technical solution protected by an innovative patent, developed in collaboration with the department’s faculty.
Alignment with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
-
SDG 7 (Clean Energy): Methods for rational resource use and increasing locomotive efficiency.
-
SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities): Reducing noise and gas emissions in urban and industrial hubs.
-
SDG 13 (Climate Action): Mitigating the carbon footprint of rail transport.
-
SDG 15 (Life on Land): Minimizing anthropogenic impact on soil and the atmosphere.
