Every historical era brings its own strategic challenges. Today, one of Kazakhstan’s central imperatives is not merely to keep pace with change, but to actively shape the conditions for the nation’s future development.
In his State-of-the-Nation Address on October 28, 2026, Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev outlined core priorities that will define Kazakhstan’s economic trajectory: infrastructure development, industrial capacity enhancement, artificial intelligence deployment, and optimized resource management. What resonates deeply with me is that behind these strategic vectors lies not only the scale of national initiatives, but the profound necessity to transform our operational models, management frameworks, and workforce development strategies.
Kazakhstan possesses immense transport and logistics potential. However, geographic positioning alone does not automatically yield a competitive advantage—it must be actively unlocked through advanced technologies, highly qualified professional teams, and practical, scalable engineering solutions. This principle applies equally to rail networks, supply chain management, civil infrastructure, and digital control systems.
This is precisely where the nation’s strategic goals intersect directly with the mission of our university. Behind every new infrastructure asset, technology, or industrial project stand qualified specialists who must design, calculate, manage, and take personal responsibility for operational results. Thus, modern engineering education is far more than an academic endeavor; it is a direct investment in the nation’s economic sovereignty.
For 95 years, ALT University has been inextricably linked with the evolution of Kazakhstan’s transport and engineering sectors. Over this nearly century-long history, technological standards, occupational requirements, and the national economy have undergone profound shifts. Our core duty is to preserve this institutional heritage while training forward-looking specialists equipped to navigate tomorrow’s technologies. Achieving this requires embedding academic curricula deeply into operational enterprise workflows and ensuring scientific research achieves applied implementation beyond university classrooms.
I am firmly convinced that sustainable national progress stems from the collective capacity to execute timely decisions and deliver measurable real-world outcomes. In this framework, every sector holds distinct accountability: government, enterprise, science, and academia.
For ALT University, our tangible benchmark must remain graduates capable of solving complex engineering challenges, alongside applied research that propels the industry forward. Through this daily commitment, we make our direct contribution to the future of Kazakhstan.
