ALT University hosted a seminar-training session titled “Causes, Functions, and Forms of Suicidal Behavior: Risk Factors.” The event was organized by the university’s Office of Inclusive Education and Mental Health as part of the implementation of UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: “Good Health and Well-being.”
The speaker was Rita Marinets, a clinical psychologist from the Youth Health Center at Almaty Polyclinic No. 7. First-year students residing in Dormitory No. 4 participated in the session.
During the training, students learned about the signs of emotional distress, discussed behavioral and emotional changes that warrant attention, and explored safe ways to access professional psychological help.
Psychologists Dariya Shabdenova and Nurkhan Kapar conducted the practical segment of the event. Participants engaged in drawing tests and projective games designed to help them understand their own emotional states, develop self-reflection skills, and learn accessible psychological self-help techniques.
Events of this nature help raise awareness of mental health issues, foster a culture of seeking timely assistance, and encourage a responsible attitude toward one’s own emotional well-being and that of others.
