As part of the policy to promote inclusive education and enhance the professional competencies of the academic staff, ALT University named after M. Tynyshpaev organized professional development training for its faculty members in the 2025–2026 academic year.
From February 23 to March 6, 2026, online professional development courses were held at Kazakh National Women’s Teacher Training University under the program “Psychological and Pedagogical Support for Students with Special Educational Needs in Inclusive Education” with a total workload of 72 academic hours.
The program covered key aspects of organizing inclusive education in higher education institutions, including:
- legal frameworks of inclusive education and development of inclusive culture in universities;
- conditions for integrating students with special educational needs into the educational environment;
- creating a barrier-free environment and ensuring physical accessibility on campus;
- assessment of professional competencies of teaching staff;
- preparation of faculty for teaching students with special educational needs;
- application of diverse pedagogical approaches, technologies and practical teaching methods.
The training was funded by the University. The cost of training was 15,000 KZT per employee, with a total expenditure of 750,000 KZT.
As a result, 50 faculty members successfully completed the professional development program, contributing to the advancement of an inclusive educational environment and ensuring equal learning opportunities for all students.
This initiative contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals:
SDG 4 — Quality Education and SDG 10 — Reduced Inequalities.
