On April 2, 2026, as part of SDG 6 “Clean Water and Sanitation,” a seminar titled “Ecology: Problems of the Aral and Balkhash” was held for students of groups 398, 393, and 397. Salima Aliyeva, a senior lecturer at the Language Education Department, highlighted that the ecological crisis of the Aral and Balkhash is one of the most striking examples of human-induced environmental disasters in Central Asia.
Key discussion points included the catastrophic decline of the Aral Sea due to population growth, a 2-3 fold increase in irrigated land, and excessive water consumption. The event successfully expanded students’ knowledge of the SDGs and fostered a more conscious attitude toward water resources and ecology.
