On February 19, 2026, at Mukhamejan Tynyshpaev ALT University, the Institute of Transport and Construction and the Department of Architectural and Civil Engineering held an important meeting within the framework of SDG 15 “Life on Land.” During the meeting, актуal issues of protecting the atmospheric air of Almaty, regulatory mechanisms for reducing pollution, and practical measures to protect ecosystems were discussed.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the balance between architecture and nature, the implementation of “green” technologies in urban planning, as well as to study methods of environmental monitoring and industrial control under modern conditions.
The event was attended by the university’s faculty and students. The invited expert, Aidana Kassen — Head of the Atmospheric Air Protection Department of Almaty — shared her professional experience.
In her speech, Aidana Kassen emphasized the importance of rational use of natural resources within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals, presented specific environmental requirements for modern projects, and explored ways to increase the environmental responsibility of future specialists. Special attention was paid to finding technological solutions that minimize anthropogenic impact on terrestrial ecosystems during urban infrastructure development.
Participation in the event contributed to the formation of students’ environmental awareness, expansion of theoretical knowledge on regulatory frameworks, and development of skills in applying environmental standards in their future professional activities.
