In March 2025, ALT University hosted a workshop titled “Education and Science for Sustainable Development: The Impact of Education, Scientific Research, and Technological Development on Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the Role of Universities in Promoting Sustainability.” The workshop was conducted by Saltanat Turkestankyzy Baipakbayeva, senior lecturer at the Department of Information and Communication Technologies.
The workshop focused on the critical role of education and science in achieving the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. In her presentation, Saltanat Turkestankyzy highlighted the achievements and initiatives of universities, particularly Kazakhstan’s universities, at national and international levels in the field of sustainable development. Participants discussed the impact of scientific research and technological advancements on society, economy, and environment.
Furthermore, the strategic role of the education system in building human capital and innovation potential was emphasized. Specific examples and data were presented, prompting active discussions among participants.
At the conclusion of the event, participants exchanged experiences in education and science, recognized the crucial role of universities in promoting sustainable development, and developed proposals for collaborative projects in this area.
