A special meeting took place at the Mukhamedzhan Tynyshpayev ALT University, bringing together sports, education, and the power of personal example. In collaboration with “NC “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy” JSC, ALT University hosted the young athlete Nurmukhammed Zhailybay, who is already making a name for himself in the history of Kazakhstani sports. The bronze medalist of the World Fencing Championships among juniors and cadets became the central figure of the meeting, where students and guests had the opportunity to hear not only a success story but also an honest conversation about labor, discipline, and the price of victory.
Despite his young age, Nurmukhammed has already traveled a path that requires not only talent but also internal resilience. At the meeting, he shared how he got into fencing, recalled his first competitions, and admitted that behind every medal lies years of daily work. The guests were particularly interested in hearing about the “backstage” of sports: the strict training regime, psychological pressure, and the ability to accept defeat and keep moving forward. It is these aspects that shape not just an athlete, but a person.
In recognition of his achievements and support for his further development, the young champion was awarded a full-tuition grant from the Chairman of the Board and Rector of ALT University.
This step was not only a symbol of respect for his achievements but also an investment in the future of the young athlete, who continues to confidently advance to new heights, combining education and professional sports.
A separate block of the meeting featured a dialogue with the athlete’s father, Dauren Zhailybayevich Nasuryllayev, a bridge master at the Almaty branch of “NC “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy” JSC — “Specialized Bridge Unit.” He is an alumnus of ALT University, specialized in “Construction of Railways, Track and Track Facilities,” and has been working in the railway transport sector for over 22 years. He spoke about the importance of recognizing a child’s interest in time and not hindering their choice. Family support, according to him, is not just about approving victories, but also being there during moments of defeat and doubt. Their family story is an example of how a combination of discipline, hard work, and human support forms a solid foundation for great achievements.
Yulia Kurbanova, PR Director of the Fencing Federation of Kazakhstan, spoke about the development of fencing in the country. According to her, conditions for the growth of young athletes are being created in Kazakhstan today: from participation in international competitions to systematic support for talents. Results like Nurmukhammed’s are not an accident, but the outcome of structured work and attention to sports development at the national level.
Askar Torekhanuly Zheksenbiev, Director of the Almaty branch of the General Administration of “NC “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy” JSC, also joined the conversation. He emphasized that today it is especially important to support young people who strive for high results — whether in sports, science, or production. According to him, such success stories serve as a guide for the new generation and shape the image of Kazakhstan’s modern youth: goal-oriented, hardworking, and competitive.
This meeting was not just a dialogue with a champion. For the guests, it was an opportunity to see that behind loud achievements stand daily efforts, doubts, self-improvement, and a clear understanding of the goal. Nurmukhammed Zhailybay’s story is a reminder that the path to success begins with a choice and continues through discipline. And perhaps, it is such meetings that become the point from which a personal history of victory begins for someone in attendance.
