The Department of Automotive Transport and Life Safety (ATE & LS) at ALT University held a traditional Kazakh ceremony called “Til Ashar” as part of the National Day celebration. The event was dedicated to the granddaughter of Professor Torgayev А.А.
The main purpose of this beautiful tradition is to joyfully celebrate a child’s first words, expressing warm wishes and blessings for their future.
During the ceremony, following Kazakh custom, honey was gently placed on the girl’s tongue — a symbolic gesture meaning that her speech will be sweet, eloquent, and kind.
At that heartfelt moment, the elders offered their blessings and wishes for Ayaru — to grow up intelligent, eloquent, kind, and eager to learn; to achieve academic success, enter ALT University, and one day become a distinguished educator and professor in her field.
As a symbol of wisdom and knowledge, the girl received a book and a certificate of participation in the “Til Ashar” ceremony on behalf of ALT University.
The event took place in a warm and festive atmosphere. Guests and participants enjoyed quizzes and musical contests about Kazakh customs and traditions. Folk songs and the sounds of the dombra filled the hall, highlighting the deep respect for national heritage.
In addition, the department’s staff and students created a short documentary film about Kazakh traditions, emphasizing the importance of preserving cultural identity and passing it on to future generations.
This event aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), promoting quality education, cultural preservation, and lifelong learning.
