HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Automation, Telemechanics and Communications was established in 1977 at the Alma-Ata Institute of Railway Transport Engineers (hereinafter – AIIRTE). The establishment of the department was driven by the need for specialists in the field of railway automation and telemechanics. The history of the department represents a distinct chapter in the history of AIIRTE – KazATC – ALiT – ALT University.
The first Head of the Department was G.A. Glashchenkov, Candidate of Technical Sciences and Associate Professor, a student of Professor N.F. Kotlyarenko of the Kharkiv Institute of Railway Transport Engineers (KhIIRTE). Under his leadership, the department took its first steps in developing its material and technical facilities and establishing specialized laboratories.
Over the years, the department was headed by Candidates of Technical Sciences and Associate Professors V.I. Shamanov, Zh.K. Duisembayeva, S.A. Shensizbayev, T.F. Omarov; Candidates of Technical Sciences and Professors Zh.N. Niyetalин and S.O. Kadyrbekov; Doctors of Technical Sciences and Professors M.B. Imandosova and Sh.B. Bitteyev; Candidate of Technical Sciences and Associate Professor G.A. Suleimenova; Candidate of Technical Sciences V.A. Schultz; PhD A.Zh. Toygozhinova; and PhD K.M. Sansyzbai. They contributed to strengthening the department’s scientific, technical and academic potential and supported its further development.
In November 2005, the Department of Automation, Telemechanics and Communications was renamed the Department of Automation and Control.
The department has a highly qualified academic staff with extensive teaching experience. Currently, the department is headed by N.T. Karymsakova, Associate Professor of ALT University.
