With the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Almaty City Akimat, the official opening of a Crisis Center for students took place at M. Tynyshbaev ALT University. The new center is designed to accommodate 55 people.
During the opening ceremony, it was noted that the main mission of the center is to provide students in difficult life situations with prompt and safe temporary shelter, socio-psychological support, as well as legal and consulting assistance.
The center offers comfortable conditions for students, including:
- cozy rooms for daily needs;
- study and recreation areas;
- medical offices.
The Crisis Center, which has been operating at ALT University for the past three years, has now expanded its activities and reached a new level. The new structure closely cooperates with city social services, university dean’s offices, and youth resource centers. This, in turn, makes it easier for students to access assistance and ensures quicker access to a safe environment.
The opening ceremony was attended by Akerke Abylaikhanqyzy Abylaikhan, Deputy Chair of the Committee for Higher and Postgraduate Education of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Aziz Oralbekuly Kazhdenbek, Head of the Youth Policy Department, who emphasized the importance of the center:
“This center is an urgent format of youth support. Here, every student can receive the necessary assistance without delay. Our goal is to ensure that students continue their studies without interruption, to create a space where they feel safe, and to help them overcome a difficult stage in life. The new Crisis Center in Almaty has become a real step in the comprehensive youth support policy,” they stated.
According to the organizers, confidentiality and ethical standards are strictly observed in the provision of assistance, and each applicant is offered an individual solution depending on their circumstances. In addition, awareness-raising activities aimed at improving the legal literacy of young people will be carried out.
For ALT University, the well-being, development, and safety of students are the main values. The new center has become one of the concrete steps in this direction.
