JSC “Academy of Logistics and Transport” integrates the principles of sustainable development into its activities, remains committed to 17 Sustainable Development Goals. The Academy is aware that the environmental and social concerns that each of the Sustainable Development Goals reflects are relevant and have an impact on any organization.

Working with educational content in the educational cases section is designed to provide the opportunity to create and, if necessary, edit the content of educational cases (educational and methodological complexes in disciplines, lecture material, attached resources, added videos), each student has the opportunity to use his personal virtual office to familiarize himself with syllabuses, to register on elective subjects and the formation of their own individual curriculum, for access to a virtual classroom. The electronic journal is designed to keep a history of students’ academic performance, obtain statistical data on academic performance, summarize results, and view a transcript. The Schedule module provides viewing of academic streams by semester, teachers, audience and groups of educational programs, to view the schedule of training sessions. The system of messages and assignment of tasks allows you to conduct internal correspondence and monitor the completion of tasks. This license allows you to implement such functionality as verification (confirmation of identity) of the test taker, as well as tracking the actions of the student taking the test online, including monitoring and recording the movements of the test taker in front of the computer screen, conversations near the computer and actions performed by the test taker on a personal computer (display tracking). The functionality allows the teacher to receive a detailed report on the verification and actions of each of the test takers, as well as a general report on violations of all test takers, which significantly reduces the time required to analyze the results of proctoring by identifying test takers with the lowest percentage of trust.

All documents of the Academy are issued in electronic form, that is, a document in which information is presented in electronic and digital form and certified by means of an electronic digital signature. All documents signed by EDS in accordance with paragraph 1 of Article 7 of the ZRK dated January 7, 2003 N370-II “On electronic document and electronic digital signature” are equivalent to a signed document on paper.

GOAL 1 - UNIVERSAL ERADICATION OF POVERTY IN ALL ITS FORMS
ALT provides 6 types of grants (scholarships) and benefits, realizing its social responsibility to society:
- academic
- motivational
- marketing
- social
- Corporate (for ALT faculty and staff and their family members)
- external (public, from foundations)
Academic. ALT participates in the distribution of state grants/scholarships for graduates of Kazakhstani schools who have successfully passed the Unified National Testing (UNT). ALT provides academic and motivational scholarships for excellent study results (in previous school years and current at the Academy) to talented, purposeful students within the framework of the Academy’s social responsibility. This includes grants from the President – Rector.
Motivational. These discounts are intended for students from large families and for students (brothers and sisters) from the same family, for graduates of ALT colleges and other colleges (with whom there is a memorandum), ALT bachelors entering the master’s program.
Marketing. These scholarships and discounts are provided to the winners of JOO contests.kz and Darwin online (information and analytical portals) for a specific program, new programs, applicants previously enrolled by the marketing department.
Social. ALT aims to accept students who fall into the 20% group with the lowest household income. Actions to combat poverty are based on the provision “Social support for students”, which is reviewed annually. The ALT administration annually allocates a budget for social scholarships and financial assistance to students. Social scholarships are provided with discounts from 5% to 100% for orphaned students, students with disabilities, for students whose parents have disabilities, for students from low-income families, students who have lost one of their parents, etc.
Corporate. The score of up to 50% can be provided by students of the Academy and members of the Semey University under the programs of Bachelor’s, master’s, second highest education (Bachelor’s degree), doctoral PhD.
External. ALT cooperates with local foundations, associations, companies and organizations in order to attract scholarships and financial support for ALT students:

GOAL 2 - ELIMINATION OF HUNGER
The ecosystem of more than 4,200 students, staff and faculty of the Academy of Logistics and Transport (ALT) strives to follow ethical principles of obtaining food and consumables, as well as environmentally friendly methods. ALT recognizes the impact it has on the environment and local society. Meals are provided on campus in accordance with local sanitary regulations and state standards. If possible, food is purchased from local suppliers and processed in such a way as to minimize the amount of waste. The Food Sustainability Policy is available here. ALT has one student canteen (the Degirmen franchise), 4 student canteens of Students’ Houses. Meals on campus are provided by third-party organizations that conduct a general measurement of food waste.
As for the SDG 2 indicator “Prevalence of malnutrition”, we are on the way to achieving this goal. Thus, living and studying in the largest and most economically developed city, our students and employees do not face problems of hunger or food insecurity. In Kazakhstan, agriculture is one of the most developed sectors of the country. Kazakhstan also borders with Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and China, which supply agricultural products to the domestic market at affordable prices.
GOAL 3 – GOOD HEALTH AND WELL-BEING
The Shabyt Center is a division of ALT, which began its work in 2010. Students can choose from the following sports sections in the Shabyt Center: football, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, yoga, running, gym.
During the academic year, various sports events are held at the Academy: sports contests, tournaments in football, basketball, volleyball, table tennis. A team of ALT employees and students participates in the annual Almaty Marathon.
ALT to conduct seminars and trainings on strengthening and improving the health of the population, nutrition and dietetics, promoting a healthy lifestyle, as well as the idea of “corporate health”.
GOAL 4 – QUALITY EDUCATION
The Academy of Logistics and Transport (ALT) has initiated the expansion of the University’s academic programs to meet the rapidly growing demand for post-secondary education in Kazakhstan and Central Asia. As part of this initiative, in 2020, the Cisco Network Academy, Smart Academy 1C, laboratory of “Labor Engineering and Mechatronics”, “Logistics Center”, Training Center “Energy Saving and Knowledge Dissemination”, Training Center “Occupational Safety and Industrial Safety” were opened on the basis of the Academy, which allowed its students to obtain certificates.

SMART ACADEMY 1C
1C Accounting is the most common solution for accounting and tax accounting. The configuration complies with all the norms of tax legislation and allows you to keep records of enterprises of any type.
No organization can work without accounting, accordingly, there will always be a demand for qualified accountants!
Internships under the Bolashak program. ALT is constantly involved in organizing a scholarship program for ALT employees and teachers to complete internships at world-class high-ranking universities with Bolashak funding. The scholarship program is being selected competitively by the State Center for International Programs. In 2015, 4 ALT teachers completed internships at LEICESTER UNIVERSITY (UK) and Berlin Technical University (Germany). In 2020 and 2021, 3 ALT teachers received scholarships under the Bolashaq program for internships at Michigan State University and Hodgman Tepe University (Turkey). The Michigan State University program includes opportunities for individual study and research in higher education, teaching and learning technologies. This program is designed to help Bolashaq fellows broaden their international horizons, develop innovative ideas, explore new learning and teaching models, and increase their awareness of developments and trends in higher education.

GOAL 5 – GENDER EQUALITY
ALT strives for gender equality and diversity, offering equal opportunities for study, work, self-development and communication. 21% of ALT students are women. Programs and extracurricular activities are aimed at expanding the opportunities of young women for life, professional growth and stable work. ALT tracks the number of applications, as well as the number of accepted and incoming women, in order to maintain gender balance in the student body. ALT staff and teachers: 65% are women. About 50% of the senior scientific staff are women.
Gender equality activities
The university measures the number of women entering. The Marketing Department measures women’s applications, enrollment statistics – annually, in September, reports to the Academic Council. Every year at the beginning of October, ALT sends a report to the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, which measures the number of women’s applications, the number of accepted/enrolled and completed studies. The Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan annually monitors the number of applications of women, the number of accepted/enrolled and the percentage of completion of studies at the country level.
According to the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan – the Bureau of National Statistics, the gross enrolment ratio of higher education by gender in Kazakhstan was 70.35% in 2020 (Sustainable Development Goals 1 and 4: 4.3.2 Gross enrolment ratio of higher education by gender (administrative data)). At ALT in 2021, the student enrollment rate was 27.5%.
More than 85% of ALT scholarships are allocated to students. From 2016 to 2020, ALT implemented a project for Afghan women, during the 4 years of the project, 3 women were trained in the basic ALT program and received scholarships under interstate agreements. The academic scholarship is designed to give Afghan women and girls the opportunity to get an education and acquire professional skills. The initiative to improve the access of Afghan women to quality higher education is aimed at increasing the sustainability of life in Afghanistan, as well as in the entire Central Asian region.
GOAL 6 – CLEAN WATER AND SANITATION
Following the idea of an influential university, ALT focuses on its third mission, which is to contribute to the creation of environmental value outside of its campus. The project “ALT Volunteers”, initiated and implemented by the students of the Academy, is aimed at nature conservation.
The purpose of this environmental campaign is to attract public attention to the problems of pollution and environmental damage, as well as the development of domestic tourism. The project is being implemented with the support of domestic companies and the Kazakhstan Geographical Society.

GOAL 7 – LOW-COST AND CLEAN ENERGY
The Academy of Logistics and Transport intends to achieve further energy savings by paying close attention to energy consumption management. At the moment, all buildings are equipped with energy-saving lamps. Responsible energy consumption is promoted on campus. The lighting is energy-saving, and automatic shutdown is set up in some corridors. Repairs are partially underway.
TRAINING CENTER “ENERGY SAVING AND DISSEMINATION OF KNOWLEDGE”
In accordance with the requirements of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On Energy Saving and Energy Efficiency Improvement” dated 13.01.2012, the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated 11.09.2012 №1179,a Training center for Energy Saving and Knowledge Dissemination (CERZ) was established at JSC “Academy of Logistics and Transport” to provide retraining and advanced training of personnel engaged in energy audit and energy saving expertise, as well as the creation, implementation and organization of an energy management system.
GOAL 8 – DECENT WORK AND ECONOMIC GROWTH
Employment contracts concluded between JSC “Academy of Logistics and Transport” (employer) and an employee are regulated by the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, including the Labor Code.

GOAL 9 – INDUSTRIALIZATION, INNOVATION AND INFRASTRUCTURE
ALT aims to become a world-class comprehensive university, so STEM education is a priority.
The Technology Commercialization office was opened in ALT in 2020 as a link between researchers and industry, which will create a new source of income. ALT successfully presented its newly created Center in the format of a round table with the participation of businessmen, industry experts, academia and venture investors. The delegates discussed the best practices of dissemination in the field of commercialization of scientific innovations to ensure effective solutions to complex production tasks.
Regional colleges of the Academy of Logistics and Transport.
ALT has been developing education in the regions for 16 years, which contributes to strengthening the human capital of the region. This approach was also aimed at improving the local standard of living. In the future, this will reduce the negative trends of urbanization and improve the development of the region. The ALT team planned to make the building more comfortable and suitable for studying. The colleges have been overhauled and equipped with a material and technical base and resources.
GOAL 10 – REDUCING INEQUALITY
The participation of all members of society, regardless of life circumstances, in the social, political and economic spheres should be mandatory for the implementation of tangible changes in the country. Inclusive education requires support from both the state and business. This is not just an item of expenditure, but an investment in the future of our country. Support for people with disabilities is necessary for the development of inclusivity in the country and especially their representation in national entrepreneurship. Our project is a contribution to creating a barrier–free environment for everyone and demonstrating the limitless possibilities of our students
Since September 2011, ALT facilities have been adapted and technically accessible to people with disabilities. We strive to support the desire of people with disabilities to overcome existing social inequality by acquiring new knowledge, developing their own business ideas and entrepreneurial potential. As part of the strategy, ALT has developed its Third mission – orientation to society, service to society, contribution to the development of regions, cities, communities, the formation of civic engagement and responsibility. By launching the project, we hoped that our project would contribute to improving the social and business climate in Kazakhstan.
Representatives of all countries recognized by the UN have access to our education. The Academy of Logistics and Transport, based on the United Nations goal of “Reducing inequality”, offers a single tuition fee for foreign citizens.

GOAL 11 – SUSTAINABLE CITIES AND HUMAN SETTLEMENTS
Since the summer of 2022, the “Academy for the City” concept has been implemented in the format of a coworking and creative space for civil society and the urban community, as well as research and project activities. ALT manages a space of 200 sq.m., invites teachers, scientists, business representatives, students, entrepreneurs, civil activists and representatives of public organizations, as well as representatives of government agencies, professional communities, journalists and active citizens to discuss various social, economic, technological and urban development issues. Following the idea of creating an independent dialogue platform for representatives of government, business and society, which will result in new forms of cooperation and joint projects to solve urgent problems of the city and implement successful socio-economic, technological and educational solutions.

GOAL 12 – RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION AND PRODUCTION
Campus amenities. In Almaty, ALT has its own territory with an area of about 1.8 hectares. The academic building consists of 5 pavilions – the academic building (total area of 30,000 m2), a sports complex with 4 sports halls. On the campus, there is also a football field (with an area of 800 m2), one parking area for staff and students. The buildings are adapted for people with disabilities – classrooms, elevators, ramps, parking spaces are specially adapted. The ALT campus is developing both in terms of expanding the opportunities of an inclusive environment and in terms of improving the quality of services. The usable area is 18,000 m2, which is about 2.3 sq.m. per student, not counting 2 shifts, students and distance/online students. All computer classes and laboratories have passports, permits of sanitary inspection and fire protection authorities for their operation.

GOAL 13 – FIGHT CLIMATE CHANGE
The formation of awareness related to climate change through the inclusion of special modules in educational programs and the holding of lectures and trainings supporting the “Green Day” events in order to train personnel with vocational education and environmental education is the main direction of sustainable development of the Academy.
In large dynamically developing megacities of Kazakhstan, one of the main problems is the pollution of the atphosphere. To date, Professor of the Academy Dzhaylaubekov Jerkin Almagambetovich has written several scientific articles on combating climate change and developed special proposals for local executive bodies.
Professor Dzhaylaubekov Yerkin Almagambetovich has developed recommendations for monitoring emissions of pollutants from road transport into the air in the atmosphere, environmental assessment of the project of restricting the movement of trucks, the implementation of the institute of self-regulation in passenger transport.
