On April 30, 2026, a delegation from the Mukhamedzhan Tynyshpayev ALT University visited the International Transport and Humanitarian University to congratulate the eminent scientist, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, and Academician Amangeldy Zhumagaliyevich Omarov on his 85th anniversary.
Amangeldy Zhumagaliyevich is a figure whose name is inextricably linked with the advancement of transport education and science in Kazakhstan. A graduate of the Novosibirsk Institute of Railway Engineers with a degree in “Railway Construction Engineering,” he has dedicated his life to the development of engineering education, scientific research, and the training of highly qualified personnel.
Throughout his distinguished career, Amangeldy Omarov has held senior leadership positions in higher education. From 1997 to 2003, he served as the Rector of the Kazakh Academy of Transport and Communications named after M. Tynyshpayev, and since 2003, he has served as the President of the International Transport and Humanitarian University.
“Today, it is a great honor for us to congratulate our Teacher. The ALT University delegation includes scientists, heads of institutes, and departments, but we are all united by one thing — we are your students. You have made an immense contribution to the development of our university, science, and transport education in Kazakhstan. Many scientists present here today passed through your school, defended their dissertations under your supervision, and found their path in science thanks to your support. On behalf of the entire ALT University staff, we express our sincere gratitude and congratulate you on your 85th birthday,” noted Meruert Zharmagambetova, Chair of the Board – Rector of ALT University.
The event also featured the presentation of the book “Temirzholdagy Tegeurindi Aulet” (“A Powerful Dynasty of Railway Workers”). Through the stories of a father and son, the book reflects an entire era of the railway industry’s development, as well as Amangeldy Omarov’s decades of hard work and professional devotion.
Amangeldy Zhumagaliyevich’s contribution to national education and science is truly invaluable. He is the author of over 60 textbooks and manuals and initiated the creation of key scientific journals. His long-standing service has been recognized with high state honors, including the “For Valiant Labor” medal, the “Honored Railway Worker” badge, the “Honored Worker of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan” title, the Order of “Kurmet,” and letters of appreciation from the Presidents of the Republic of Kazakhstan. This year, during a ceremony at Akorda dedicated to Science Day, he received an award directly from the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
This anniversary meeting became a symbol of the continuity of generations, respect for a mentor, and recognition of Amangeldy Zhumagaliyevich Omarov’s monumental role in shaping the future of Kazakhstan’s transport and engineering sectors.
