On June 24, as part of expanding international cooperation and modernizing its academic infrastructure, an ALT University delegation visited Tianjin University — the first modern university in China’s history and one of the nation’s premier public research institutions. The delegation included Meruert Sovetovna Zharmagambetova, Chairman of the Board – Rector of ALT University, and Shamil Askarovich Abdreshov, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs.
Founded in 1895, the university has remained a flagship institution for Chinese higher education, scientific discovery, and technical talent cultivation for over 130 years. Today, it hosts an academic community of over 45,000 students, including more than 16,000 master’s students and nearly 9,000 doctoral candidates. Tianjin University holds leading positions in national and global institutional rankings, standing as an acclaimed hub for engineering research, technological innovation, and high-caliber human capital development.
During the visit, the ALT University representatives toured the university’s state-of-the-art educational and scientific infrastructure, visited key research laboratories, and held bilateral talks with the institution’s leadership to discuss prospects for deeper academic synergy.
Special emphasis was placed on advancing faculty and student academic mobility, promoting knowledge exchange, launching joint research initiatives, and reinforcing institutional partnerships within engineering disciplines.
Fostering international cooperation with top-tier global universities represents a core pillar of ALT University’s long-term strategy. The strategic partnership with Tianjin University will unlock new opportunities for faculty and students, integrate global best practices into academic curricula, and enable collaborative projects aligned with the shifting demands of modern engineering and high-tech industrial sectors.
