On July 15–17, 2026, as part of the working visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, to the People’s Republic of China, Meruert Zharmagambetova, Chairman of the Board – Rector of ALT University named after M. Tynyshpaev, held a series of high-level meetings and signed strategic agreements aimed at advancing international cooperation in education, science, innovation, and technology.

Meeting with the Leadership of Shanghai Jiao Tong University

During the visit, the Kazakh delegation visited Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), one of the top-ranked universities in China and worldwide. A meeting was held with the President of the university, Academician Ding Kuiling, during which the parties discussed prospects for cooperation in higher education, science, and talent development, as well as opportunities for launching joint educational and research projects. Shanghai Jiao Tong University ranks among the world’s most prestigious institutions, widely recognized for its achievements in engineering, technology, medicine, management, and scientific research. The university places special emphasis on fostering innovation, entrepreneurial skills, and international partnerships.

Strategic Partnership with YALONG Intelligent Equipment Group

On July 16, 2026, a Strategic Partnership Agreement was signed between ALT University named after M. Tynyshpaev and the Chinese enterprise YALONG Intelligent Equipment Group. On behalf of Kazakhstan, the document was signed by Meruert Zharmagambetova, Chairman of the Board – Rector of ALT University, and on behalf of China, by Chen Jiquan, Chairman of YALONG Intelligent Equipment Group. The core objective of this collaboration is the establishment of a joint research and innovation center, Yalong Lab, based at the university. The new center will serve as a platform for conducting joint research and innovation projects, integrating state-of-the-art technologies, exchanging expertise, and training highly qualified specialists. It will also drive the development of engineering education and solidify scientific and technological cooperation between Kazakhstan and China.

New Academic Ties with Tianjin University

On July 16 in Shanghai, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between ALT University named after M. Tynyshpaev and Tianjin University. The document unlocks new avenues for advancing academic mobility, developing joint educational programs, pursuing collaborative research, facilitating faculty and student exchanges, and broadening cooperation in engineering education.

Exploring Digital Solutions for Global Trade

As part of the itinerary, the ALT University delegation visited TOPEASE, a leading Chinese developer of solutions in global trade analytics, Big Data, and digital marketing. Processing data from over 220 countries and regions, TOPEASE leverages artificial intelligence and Big Data technologies to analyze global trade trends, international market shifts, demand dynamics, and competitive environments to uncover new business development opportunities. The company’s core philosophy is encapsulated in its slogan, “Data Creates Value,” emphasizing that today’s priority extends beyond merely accessing vast data arrays to translating data into actionable strategic management decisions. TOPEASE’s operational experience is of particular interest for building digital competencies, advancing data analytics, and preparing specialists for the modern economy.

New Horizons for International Collaboration

The comprehensive series of meetings, signed agreements, and site visits represents a milestone in the international outreach of ALT University named after M. Tynyshpaev. These new strategic partnerships with China’s top universities and technology leaders open up expanded possibilities for conducting joint scientific research, deploying innovative educational practices, preparing next-generation professionals, and reinforcing academic ties between Kazakhstan and China.
