On September 25, 2026, Almaty hosted the Kazakhstan–China Investment Forum, uniting representatives of government bodies, business communities, leading universities, and research institutions from both nations. The delegation from ALT University was led by Meruert Zharmagambetova, Chairman of the Board – Rector of ALT University, alongside Andrei Ivanov, Vice-Rector for Corporate and Social Development.
The forum featured panel sessions dedicated to building new economic corridors between Kazakhstan and China, advancing industrial cooperation, fostering high-tech manufacturing, driving the digital economy, and upgrading financial infrastructure.
A cornerstone event for ALT University was the formal signing of a Cooperation Agreement with the Key Laboratory of Archaeological Research and Cultural Heritage Conservation Technology at Northwestern Polytechnical University, under the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China.
A core initiative within this partnership will be the establishment of a joint Digital Laboratory for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage of Kazakhstan and China. This joint initiative will deploy advanced digital technologies to research, document, and preserve cultural heritage sites across both countries.
The agreement encompasses annual joint research initiatives, faculty and scholar exchange programs, professional participation in academic and scientific activities across host institutions, as well as research internships and exchange programs for students.
ALT University’s participation in the forum and the signing of this milestone agreement mark another significant step in strengthening Kazakh-Chinese academic and scientific partnership, creating expanded opportunities for joint research, mobility programs, and training next-generation specialists.
