The talk supports United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 7, Affordable and Clean Energy, and Goal 9, Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, by advancing digital technologies, data analytics and innovative infrastructure solutions in the energy sector.

On 15 October 2026, ALT University hosted a guest lecture for IT and energy students on energy digitalisation and the EnergyPlus.kz energy supply management system. The lecture was delivered by Yedygenov Rustem Nurlanovich, Head of Digital Project Development.

Rustem Nurlanovich has nearly five years of experience in the energy sector and commercial dispatch operations. He analyses and forecasts customer energy consumption, coordinates this area of work across the group of companies, and implements solutions for automating energy processes.

Participants learned how Kazakhstan’s electricity market works and how generation, transmission, consumption and settlement processes are connected. The speaker explained the changes that have transformed electricity from a basic utility into a complex market product.

The lecture focused on the role of a commercial dispatcher and the combination of energy expertise, trading and data analytics within one profession. Students explored the stages of collecting operational data, analysing the market, forecasting consumption and generation, supporting purchasing decisions and reducing energy supply costs.

Using EnergyPlus.kz as an example, the lecture showed how a digital platform can help companies manage energy supply, assess risks, develop purchasing strategies and achieve savings.

The guest lecture provided a valuable learning experience for students interested in energy, information technology, data analytics and digital product development. Participants learned about emerging professions, in-demand skills and career opportunities in Kazakhstan’s developing electricity market.
