On April 22, as part of SDGs 4, 11, and 13, the Department of Architectural and Civil Engineering at M. Tynyshpayev ALT University successfully concluded a large-scale student project competition. Over the course of six weeks, 2nd and 3rd-year students from the “6B07330 – Architecture of Buildings and Structures” educational program competed in developing innovative, eco-friendly, and functional architectural concepts.
The main objective of the competition was to develop conceptual designs for mono-functional buildings (cafes, exhibition pavilions, and small architectural forms) utilizing the principles of “green” architecture, with mandatory consideration of the regional climate conditions.
A multitude of ambitious individual and team projects were submitted to the competition. The submissions were evaluated on a 100-point scale. The expert jury, which included the Head of the Department, Associate Professors of the department, as well as invited practicing architects, evaluated the following aspects:
- Architectural expressiveness and innovation;
- Functionality of spaces;
- Quality of engineering and thermotechnical justification;
- Level of graphic presentation and 3D visualization.
The jury members noted: “The standard of student work this year exceeded our expectations. The students demonstrated not only a flight of creative imagination but also a mature engineering approach, proving they are ready to design the energy-efficient buildings of the future.”
Congratulations to the authors of the best projects, who managed to perfectly combine aesthetics, sustainability, and precise calculations!
