Almaty, July 27, 2026 — ALT University named after Mukhamedzhan Tynyshpaev hosted the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Status, Problems, and Development of Highways in Kazakhstan,” gathering scientists, delegates from specialized universities, research institutes, international organizations, government authorities, and leading road transport sector experts from across the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
The conference is taking place as part of the Kazakhstani leg of the IX International Motor Rally organized by the Intergovernmental Council of Road Workers, traversing Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan from July 20 to 28. The event serves as an international platform for strengthening scientific cooperation, exchanging advanced engineering solutions, and addressing critical topics in transport infrastructure development across the CIS region.
Participants include representatives from the CIS Executive Committee, the Eurasian Economic Commission, JSC NC “KazAvtoZhol,” the Association of Road Workers of Kazakhstan, and the Intergovernmental Council of Road Workers, alongside researchers and academics from prominent universities and scientific organizations in Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan. The delegation includes academicians, doctors and candidates of sciences, industry executives, and experts shaping the contemporary research agenda in transport and highway engineering.
Key discussions centered on the development of international transport corridors, the refinement of the legal and regulatory framework governing CIS road sector cooperation, modern scientific research in transport infrastructure, the deployment of innovative materials and digital technologies, transport modeling, engineering geology, road safety, and practical solutions aimed at increasing highway durability and reliability. Special focus was given to R&D and experimental design outcomes covering new materials and technologies for transport infrastructure construction and maintenance.
A cornerstone event of the conference will be the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between ALT University named after Mukhamedzhan Tynyshpaev and the Intergovernmental Council of Road Workers. The agreement outlines plans for joint research ventures, international educational projects, expanded academic mobility, knowledge sharing, and the training of specialized engineering personnel for the transport industry.
