On May 29, Astana hosted the II High-Level International Conference “Sustainable Development in Eurasia,” co-organized by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO). The Presidential Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan served as the venue for this prestigious event.

The conference brought together more than 100 representatives from government agencies, international organizations, academia, and expert communities from various countries worldwide. Participants engaged in comprehensive discussions on achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), strengthening regional cooperation, enhancing integration processes, and identifying innovative approaches to sustainability across the Eurasian space.

The delegation representing ALT University included Meruert Sovetovna Zharmagambetova, Chairman of the Board – Rector, and Andrey Alexandrovich Ivanov, Vice-Rector for Corporate and Social Development.

The high-level plenary session was moderated by Sayasat Nurbek, the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Throughout the day, attendees reviewed key areas of the global sustainability agenda, outlooks for post-2030 SDG achievements, energy security concerns, and the contemporary challenges and risks confronting Eurasian nations.

Special emphasis was placed on the pivotal role of science, education, and international collaboration in addressing global crises. Experts highlighted that sustainable development cannot be realized without training a highly qualified workforce, expanding applied scientific research, implementing innovations, and reinforcing strategic partnerships among universities, state bodies, and private enterprises.

For ALT University, participating in such high-profile international forums is a critical component of its global partnership strategy and professional dialogue concerning sustainability, science, education, and cultivating the professionals of tomorrow. The conference provided an excellent platform for exchanging expertise, discussing best international practices, and shaping new growth pathways for Eurasian countries amidst rapid technological and socio-economic shifts.
