ALT University representatives — Andrey Ivanov, Vice-Rector for Corporate and Social Development, and Zhanibek Smadiyarov, Chief of Staff — participated in the traditional corporate hike organized by the university’s strategic partner, Orbis Group holding.
This year, the trail stretched along the Old Japanese Road, one of the most scenic routes within the Ile-Alatau National Park. The event brought together Orbis Group employees, corporate partners, their families, and friends. More than 400 participants covered over 15 kilometers, setting a record turnaround in the entire history of the annual hike.
Such initiatives drive the promotion of healthy lifestyle habits, reinforce corporate culture, and advance environmental responsibility. As part of the outdoor event, participants also joined a traditional eco-cleanup action to gather waste across the national park’s territory.
The active involvement of ALT University leaders in these tracks highlights the institution’s commitment to sustainability alignment. The hike supports the implementation of UN Sustainable Development Goal No. 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) by fostering physical activity, wellness awareness, and an active lifestyle. Simultaneously, the event serves as a practical showcase for Goal No. 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), bringing together business, academia, and community members to reinforce professional networks, exchange institutional knowledge, and drive long-term integration.
ALT University and Orbis Auto share a robust, long-term partnership aimed at advancing practice-oriented education, cultivating highly qualified human capital for the automotive sector, and boosting university-industry synergy. Through these joint projects, students gain immediate access to modern technologies, specialized target laboratories, industrial internships, and expert insights from top industrial players. Orbis Auto operates as a key business unit of Orbis Group, one of Kazakhstan’s largest diversified conglomerates spanning multiple sectors of the economy.
