Kamila Dastanovna Aliyeva, an Information Systems student at ALT University, was honored with the prestigious Best of Nation award at the 48th WorldSkills Competition held in Shanghai.
WorldSkills is a global movement that unites participants, experts, industry partners, and educational institutions to foster vocational excellence and elevate the prestige of technical and skilled professions. The 48th WorldSkills Competition took place in Shanghai from September 22 to 27, 2026, featuring nearly 1,400 young professionals from over 70 countries and regions competing across 64 skill categories.
Kamila Aliyeva represented Kazakhstan in the Digital Interactive Media Design category — a newly introduced skill discipline making its debut on the WorldSkills official program in 2026. This discipline integrates visual design, emerging software technologies, and interactive user experiences, ranging from dynamic digital content to user interfaces and complex multimedia systems.
Following the rigorous multi-day competition, Kamila was awarded the coveted Best of Nation title. According to WorldSkills guidelines, this award is presented to the highest-performing competitor from each participating country or region who best exemplifies technical mastery, resilience, and the spirit of the WorldSkills movement.
The Digital Interactive Media Design track brought together top talent from around the globe. Competitors were required to demonstrate not only proficiency in cutting-edge software suites, but also the strategic execution of design principles, interactivity, and creative problem-solving.
Team Kazakhstan was represented by 33 competitors across 31 skill categories at WorldSkills Shanghai 2026. In total, the national team secured eight honors: one Bronze Medal, six Medallions for Excellence, and the Best of Nation award earned by Kamila Aliyeva.
For ALT University, Kamila’s achievement represents a major international milestone. Participation in WorldSkills highlights the modern competency standards expected of digital technology experts, where technical fluency must be paired with multimedia design, interface optimization, and user-centric systems engineering.
