Students of the IT Energy educational program at ALT UNIVERSITY visited the Open Day held at RES-2 in Almaty, a structural division of Alatau Zharyk Company.

During the visit, the students had the opportunity to see the operation of an energy enterprise from the inside, learn more about the work of industry professionals, and become acquainted with modern technologies used to ensure reliable and uninterrupted electricity supply to the city.

One of the highlights of the visit was the dispatching service of RES-2. The students observed the actual work of dispatchers responsible for monitoring the condition of electrical networks, coordinating personnel, and ensuring a timely response to emerging situations. For future energy specialists, this was valuable practical experience that helped them better understand the high level of responsibility and the specific nature of dispatching operations.

The students were also introduced to modern liquid-crystal electricity meters. Specialists explained their functional capabilities and demonstrated the differences between modern metering devices and meters of previous generations. Particular attention was paid to the development of digital technologies and their role in improving electricity metering and energy consumption management.

Another important part of the visit was an introduction to the working conditions and organization of professional activities at RES-2. The students were able to observe real operational processes and receive answers to questions related to professional careers in the energy sector.

A particularly warm and memorable moment for the accompanying faculty members was meeting their former students — ALT UNIVERSITY graduates who are now working as specialists at RES-2. It was especially rewarding for the lecturers to see their graduates working professionally in the field they studied. Such meetings demonstrate the continuity between the university and the energy industry and provide an opportunity to see the professional development of graduates.

The visit to RES-2 helped students connect the theoretical knowledge acquired at the university with real-world industrial tasks and gain a better understanding of current trends in the development of the energy sector.

The event was part of the practice-oriented cooperation between ALT UNIVERSITY and Alatau Zharyk Company and contributed to the implementation of SDG 9 “Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure”, which promotes the development of modern, reliable and technologically advanced infrastructure and the introduction of innovations into industrial processes.

ALT UNIVERSITY expresses its sincere gratitude to the RES-2 team of Alatau Zharyk Company for their hospitality, informative program, and the opportunity for students to gain first-hand insight into the operation of a real energy enterprise.
