On March 14, the Kazakhs have a holiday called “Korisu” (literal translation – “to meet”). On this day, people visit each other, when they meet, they certainly shake hands and say: “Happy last year!” Since ancient times, this holiday has been celebrated by residents of Western Kazakhstan. The Korisu tradition has spread widely throughout the country. Our Academy honors all the traditions of the Kazakhs and “Korisu” was no exception. On March 14, 2024, the Korisu holiday was organized by the teaching staff of the Department of Social and Humanitarian Disciplines and Physical Education. Guests and participants of the holiday hugged, congratulated on the end of winter and said their warmest wishes to each other. The event organizers treated them to traditional Kazakh dishes from the rich dastarkhan, showed several customs, and students played asyk and togyzkumalak. The fun was continued by dombra players and singers from the Academy. At the end of the holiday, the dance group delighted the audience with the “Kara Zhorga” dance.
