On June 25–26, 2026, Meruert Sovetovna Zharmagambetova, Chairman of the Board – Rector of ALT University, attended the China-Central Asia Conference on Cooperation in Production, Education, Research, and Application, held in Urumqi, China.
The high-level event was organized by the “Central Asia – China” Education Exchange and Cooperation Center, with the official support of the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, the Education Department of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and leading Chinese universities.
The conference brought together officials from relevant ministries, university executives, members of the academic and scientific community, and industrial enterprise leaders from both China and Central Asian nations. Notable participants included vice-ministers of education, rectors of flagship universities from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, along with representatives from the Chinese Academy of Engineering and major Chinese corporations.
During the opening ceremony, Gulzat Kobenova, Vice-Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, delivered an opening address, emphasizing the critical importance of further strengthening educational and scientific synergy between Central Asian countries and China. Welcoming remarks were also delivered by representatives of the Ministry of Education of the PRC, heads of the region’s top universities, and prominent academic figures.
Key agenda items at the conference focused on the integration of education, science, and industry; the advancement of engineering and vocational training; the digital transformation of academic environments; student and faculty mobility; and the deployment of joint scientific research to cultivate highly qualified personnel for high-tech economic sectors.
A centerpiece of the program was the thematic seminar titled “Intelligent Connection of the Silk Road: Digital Innovations in Vocational Education.” This session was dedicated to evaluating modern educational technologies and consolidating ties between universities across Central Asia and China.
ALT University’s participation in the conference directly drives the expansion of its international academic footprint, fosters collaborative educational and research initiatives, and reinforces strategic alliances with premier universities and scientific research hubs across the People’s Republic of China.
