On February 24, a festive concert dedicated to Chinese culture and the Chinese New Year titled “Common Origins of the Silk Road – Common Destiny of Mankind” was held at the ALT University named after Mukhamedzhan Tynyshpayev. The event was organized by the General Consulate of the People’s Republic of China in Almaty, a delegation from the North University of Nationalities of China, and the ALT University named after M. Tynyshpayev.

The concert aimed to promote cultural exchange between Kazakhstan and China. The program featured performances dedicated to Chinese culture, as well as creative acts by students, symbolizing friendship, mutual respect, and academic cooperation between the two countries.

In her welcoming speech, Meruert Sovetovna Zharmagambetova, Chairperson of the Board – Rector of ALT University named after M. Tynyshpayev, noted: “Today’s event reflects the deep philosophy of the connection between our peoples. The Great Silk Road historically linked East and West — not only through trade but also through culture, knowledge, and values. Today, we continue this connection through education and science.

The participation of our students and undergraduates adds special value to this event. They are the future leaders and specialists who will strengthen international ties and develop the economies of our countries. Even today, they are learning to understand each other’s culture, exchange knowledge, and create joint projects. ALT University is open to academic exchanges, scientific initiatives, and joint educational programs.”

Acting Consul General of the PRC in Almaty, Lyu Yi, emphasized that within the framework of implementing the strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and China, cooperation between the two countries has significantly strengthened. Interaction in the field of education and professional training is developing particularly actively. Humanitarian cooperation contributes to deepening the traditional friendship between the peoples, and Kazakhstan demonstrates an example of mutually beneficial international partnership based on trust and mutual respect.

The head of the Chinese delegation, Wang Jianwei, noted that China and Kazakhstan are not only neighbors but also countries close in spiritual and cultural respects.

Quoting Xi Jinping, she emphasized: “Strong youth is the key to the country’s prosperity.” According to her, the friendship between the two states is in the hands of the youth, and long-term cooperation is directly linked to their acquaintance, mutual understanding, and joint development.

The goal of the event, held with the support of the General Consulate of the People’s Republic of China in Almaty, was to unite art and promote stronger ties between the youth of the two countries.

Today, the delegation of the North University of Nationalities presented a concert program with songs, dances, and national musical instruments reflecting the richness of the cultural diversity of the peoples of China. This is not only a result of university education but also a sincere desire to introduce Kazakhstani youth to the linguistic and cultural heritage of China. “Education deepens through exchange, and civilization — through mutual recognition,” Wang Jianwei emphasized.

Separately, she noted the significant role of ALT University in training specialists necessary for the development of the region, emphasizing that the university’s educational focus and achieved results are of great importance for strengthening cooperation.

ALT University’s cooperation with Chinese universities and technology companies is developing in line with the national priorities of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In 2025, special attention was paid to the “Luban Workshop” project, awarded to ALT University in August 2025 as part of the Tianjin SCO Summit. The third Workshop on industrial robotics in Kazakhstan has become an important educational and research platform for training specialists to work in high-tech sectors of the economy and implementing innovative engineering solutions.

The project was implemented following high-level negotiations between the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and the President of the PRC, Xi Jinping. The agreement on the creation and implementation of the third Luban Workshop in Kazakhstan was signed on October 31, 2025, within the framework of the Forum of Strategic Partners of the RK.

The PRC Ambassador to the Republic of Kazakhstan, Han Chunlin, visited ALT University in January 2026, which confirmed the high level of trust and the strategic nature of the partnership.

During an official meeting in Beijing in September 2025, the Head of State noted that China is a reliable neighbor, a close friend, and an eternal strategic partner for Kazakhstan.

The current stage of Kazakh-Chinese interaction is characterized by the expansion of academic exchanges, joint scientific projects, and the integration of universities from both countries into a single educational space. It is in this context that partnership with leading universities and companies of the PRC acquires special significance and corresponds to the state policy priorities of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
