On May 7, 2025, the Department of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) held an eco-challenge titled “Say No to Plastic Bags” as part of its environmental education and sustainable development program. The project aimed to draw the attention of students and faculty to the global problem of plastic pollution and to showcase practical ways to reduce the use of plastic in everyday life.

The challenge began with a discussion about the environmental impact of plastic bags and how they can be replaced with eco-friendly alternatives. Statistical data was presented to demonstrate that plastic bags make up a significant portion of waste polluting oceans, soil, and water bodies. During the event, participants discussed ways to reduce the use of single-use plastic products by switching to reusable bags, containers, and other sustainable items.

Organizers invited participants to give up using plastic bags for one day and to share their experiences and results on social media using the hashtag #NoPlastic. Everyone was welcome to take part, either in person or virtually, by talking about the alternatives they had chosen.

The implementation of this eco-challenge not only increased environmental awareness among students and faculty but also encouraged long-term changes in daily habits aimed at reducing carbon footprints and protecting the planet’s ecosystems.
