On October 29–30, 2025, the faculty members of the Department:  Prof. A.S. Abdiraiymova, Assoc. Prof. L.T. Kurmanbayeva, Senior Lecturer M.K. Kanagatov, and Senior Lecturer P.M. Beisenova participated in a seminar on the promotion of elements of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity included in UNESCO’s Representative List among university representatives and students of Kazakhstan, as well as on stimulating their active involvement in the preservation and further development of these elements. The event was organized under the leadership of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Non-profit Joint-stock Company “Kazakhstan Institute of Social Development.”

The seminar aimed to: increase awareness among Kazakhstan’s university representatives about the concept of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) and Kazakhstan’s involvement in UNESCO’s international initiatives related to ICH preservation; familiarize participants with the national system for registering ICH elements, the process of forming the National Inventory and the UNESCO Representative List, as well as the international nomination criteria; discuss contemporary challenges in transmitting traditional practices to younger generations in the context of globalization and digitalization; encourage the development of elective courses, public lectures, community events, and research projects on ICH in Kazakhstan’s universities; build a professional community of educators and researchers interested in the systematic promotion of ICH elements and in supporting the bearers of cultural traditions. During the seminar, the colleagues actively participated in discussions and in the development of curriculum in this field.
