On May 16, 2026, a foresight session was held to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the 1986 graduates of the “Transport Construction” Department at ALT University, majoring in “Railway Construction, Track, and Track Facilities.” The event aimed to combine the professional expertise of alumni, the scientific and educational potential of the department, and current trends in the development of railway infrastructure.
The Head of the “Transport Construction” Department, T.Zh. Tulemisov, delivered an opening report titled “Continuity of Generations as the Foundation for the Development of Higher and Postgraduate Education in Transport Construction.” In his address, he highlighted the following key issues:

the history and contribution of the department to training specialists for the transport sector;

the current state of the department’s educational programs;
-
competencies required for the engineer of the future;
-
interaction between the department and industrial enterprises;
-
the significance of engineering traditions and mentorship in implementing dual education;
-
the necessity of alumni participation in the educational and research activities of the department.
Distinguished veterans of the railway transport sector, S.Zh. Turzhanov and T.M. Suslova, spoke on behalf of the alumni.
During the discussions, the following topics were addressed:

key developments and shifts in railway construction and track management;

in-demand competencies for future engineers;
-
promising areas of collaboration between the faculty and department alumni;
-
forms of mentorship for students and young professionals;
-
actionable recommendations for the strategic advancement of the “Transport Construction” Department.
As a result of the foresight session, several proposals were adopted regarding the development of mentorship programs, high-quality organization of guest lectures, industrial internships, and joint collaborative projects.
