On May 3, 2025, in the Park of 28 Panfilov Guardsmen in Almaty, the leadership, faculty, students, and invited guests — totaling about 2,000 people — held a solemn ceremony titled “GREAT VICTORY: HONORING HEROISM – A MODEL FOR YOUTH,” with the laying of wreaths and flowers at the Glory Memorial in honor of Defender of the Fatherland Day and the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
The event began with the ceremonial assembly of students from the Military Affairs Institute at the “Eternal Flame of the Glory Memorial.” After the readiness report, Colonel (Reserve) Ernazar Ishanov, Head of the Military Affairs Institute, officially opened the rally. The National Anthem of the Republic of Kazakhstan was performed.
Following this, speeches were delivered by the University’s President-Rector, Candidate of Technical Sciences and Associate Professor Meruert Sovetovna Zharmagambetova, and the Chairman of the Republican Public Association “Union of Officers,” Major General Makhmut Utegenovich Telegusov.
In their speeches, they emphasized that this year marks the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. They honored the memory of all those who sacrificed their lives for the freedom and independence of the Motherland, granting us life and a peaceful future. They expressed gratitude to the respected veterans, representatives of the legendary generation of victors, for their courage, selflessness, unmatched patriotism, and profound sense of duty, as well as for their lifelong contributions to the prosperity of the nation. They highlighted the importance of preserving the sacred historical memory, passing it on to children and grandchildren, being true patriots, and maintaining unity and solidarity in the name of future victories and achievements.
After a moment of silence, the participants laid wreaths and flowers at the Eternal Flame of the Glory Memorial.
Highlighting the importance of the 80th anniversary of Victory in World War II (1941–1945), students from the Military Affairs Institute held a flash mob by unfolding a commemorative logo dedicated to this anniversary.
To conclude the event, students from the University’s Military Affairs Institute marched solemnly in front of the Memorial and performed the songs “Victory Day” and “Atameken.”
