As part of the implementation of SDG 4 “Quality Education,” on April 30, 2026, a guest lecture was delivered by S.H. Baidildina-Fellan, PhD in History and Associate Professor at the G.Daukeyev AUES. The lecture was titled “Kazakhstan as Part of the Soviet Military-Industrial Complex: A Historical and Social Perspective.”

During the presentation, the consequences of the nuclear tests that began in 1949 at the Semipalatinsk test site were examined. Their long-term negative impact was highlighted, including an increase in cancer cases and congenital abnormalities. Between 1949 and 1990, around 500 tests were conducted in Kazakhstan.

The lecture generated great interest among the students and concluded with a question-and-answer session.
