In Almaty, an expanded board meeting of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan was held at Satbayev University under the theme: “Higher Education and Science: The Year of Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence.”
ALT University was represented at the meeting by Chair of the Board – Rector Meruert S. Zharmagambetova and Founder Gulzana B. Serikova.
The session was chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Minister of Culture and Information, Aida Balaeva. The meeting was also attended by the Minister of Science and Higher Education, Sayasat Nurbek, along with more than 100 leading scientists, university leaders, international partners, representatives of research organizations, and members of the expert community.
During the session, a report on the ministry’s activities for 2025 was presented, and key objectives for 2026 were outlined. Special attention was given to the development of the higher education and science system, the implementation of the 2023–2029 Concept for the Development of Higher Education and Science, and the enhancement of specialist training quality.
Participants discussed current priorities in the digital transformation of education and science, the integration of artificial intelligence technologies, the strengthening of cooperation between science and industry, and the overall competitiveness of national higher education.
In her speech, Aida Balaeva emphasized the need to improve the quality of higher and postgraduate education, highlighting the importance of effective interaction between the ministry, universities, and akimats to meet real labor market demands.
It was also noted that the country is at a pivotal stage of development, on the eve of adopting a new Constitution, where education, science, and innovation are defined as strategic priorities for human capital development.
As part of the event, participants explored an exhibition of innovative projects prepared by university scientists and research institutes. More than 40 scientific developments, which have received patents and are being integrated into production, were presented.
The participation of ALT University representatives in the board meeting contributes to strengthening cooperation with the national scientific and educational community and supports the university’s initiatives in digitalization, research, and the training of high-demand specialists.
