Fourth-year students of the educational program 6B11333 – “Digital Logistics” completed a laboratory work within the course “Information Systems in Warehouse Management” on the topic “Characteristics of the Types of Technical Equipment Used in Warehouses.”

The laboratory work was conducted by Associate Professor Kenzhebaeva G.Zh. of the Department of Transport Services and Business and was aimed at developing in future specialists not only a theoretical understanding of warehouse equipment, but also a comprehensive vision of its role within an integrated digital ecosystem.

The learning process began with an in-depth exploration of the logic behind the classification of technical equipment. Students analyzed warehouse technologies not only according to their functional purpose (storage, transportation, order picking), but also based on a critically important parameter for a digital logistician — the level of their “intelligence” and their ability to interact with data.

Students learned that a modern forklift is not merely a tool for moving goods, but a key element of the Internet of Things (IoT) in a warehouse, enabling data collection, operational monitoring, and integration with warehouse management information systems.

As a result, students acquired a core competence of a digital logistician — the ability to perceive, design, and optimize the continuous flow
“system command → physical action → feedback and data,”
which forms the foundation of efficient, accurate, and competitive logistics in the 21st century.

The implementation of this laboratory work is also directly aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in particular:

  • SDG 4 — Quality Education, through the development of practice-oriented digital competencies;
  • SDG 9 — Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, by mastering intelligent warehouse technologies;
  • SDG 12 — Responsible Consumption and Production, through understanding efficient resource utilization and the digital optimization of warehouse processes.
