On June 25–26, 2026, the China-Central Asia Conference on Cooperation in Production, Education, Research, and Practical Application was held in Urumqi, People’s Republic of China.
Meruert Sovetovna Zharmagambetova, Chairman of the Board – Rector of ALT University, and Shamil Askarovich Abdreshov, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Member of the Board, attended the conference, which brought together government officials, academic institutions, and industrial enterprises from China and Central Asian countries.
During the grand opening ceremony on June 25, the milestone outcomes of Kazakhstan-China cooperation in the field of higher and vocational education were officially presented.
Meruert Sovetovna Zharmagambetova and Tang Xiaobing, Secretary of the Party Committee of Urumqi Vocational University, outlined the joint educational initiatives being executed between Kazakhstan and China, including the strategic expansion of the Lu Ban Workshop network.
A cornerstone of this bilateral cooperation is the establishment of the Lu Ban Workshop on Industrial Robotics based at ALT University. The new educational center will serve as a cutting-edge platform for training specialists in automation, intelligent manufacturing, transport logistics, and digital technologies.
The project is being implemented within the framework of the strategic partnership between ALT University and Urumqi Vocational University. It is aimed at deploying advanced educational solutions, fostering practice-oriented learning, and cultivating next-generation human capital for the transport and logistics sector.
The center will be equipped with advanced hardware for training in industrial robotics and smart manufacturing technologies. Its launch will enable students to acquire hands-on skills in operating high-tech production systems and master contemporary solutions applied in global industry and logistics.
Meruert Sovetovna Zharmagambetova emphasized that the development of the Lu Ban Workshop marks a critical stride toward reinforcing academic and technological synergy between Kazakhstan and China.
According to Tang Xiaobing, the Lu Ban Workshop represents a highly effective international platform for workforce development and will actively drive the advancement of collaborative academic programs in intelligent manufacturing, modern transport advancements, and logistics.
